Henry Phillip Lee, 81 (just shy of his 82nd birthday) died February 10, 2023. Henry was born in Detroit, February 14, 1941, to Lucille (Solovich) and Herbert Lee. Whether it was through his legal career or volunteer work, his goal in life was to make the world a better place. Henry said the best thing that ever happened to him was meeting the love of his life, Linda Marash. They were married for 46 years before she died in 2014.

Henry took pride in education and was proud of his degrees. He earned his undergraduate degree at the University of Michigan, his law degree from Indiana University at Bloomington School of Law and his postgraduate LL.M. degree in taxation from New York University School of Law. He practiced law for over fifty years, specializing in business law, estate planning, and tax law. He was a former faculty member of the American Bar Association – American Law Institute (ALI-ABA), Chair of the Estates & Trusts Committee of the Taxation Section of the Oakland County Bar Association, Chair of the Summer Tax Conference for the Tax Section of the State Bar of Michigan, and member of the Legislative Development and Drafting Committee of the Probate Section of the State Bar of Michigan.

He was proud of his volunteer work which included secular and non-secular. Henry was a past President and Board Member of Hebrew Free Loan, and a former Member of the Board of Governors of the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit. He was a member of the Planned Giving Committees of the Robert Tannahill Society (Detroit Institute of Art), The Community House (Birmingham, MI), and the Barbara Ann Karmanos Cancer Center. He was also a Board Member of Child Safe/Judson Center and the Sky Foundation.

Henry’s hobbies included theater, arts, art collecting, gardening, and traveling. He also enjoyed spending time with his family, including his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law Sheri Lee and Dennis Brodsky, son Andrew Lee, grandchildren Felix and Hugo Brodsky and Asher and Hudson Lee, Sister, Linda (Lee) Albert, brother-in-law Irwin Miller, and former daughter-in-law Benita (Green) Lee.

He was the beloved husband of the late Linda (Marash) Lee, brother-in-law of J Brock Albert, Pam Miller, Larry Kamen, and Bonnie Marash.

He also leaves behind his companion, Barbara Kaplan, many loving nieces and nephews. He also felt very fortunate to have lifelong friends, Norman and Ros Levy, and Harold and Diane Waller.
