Barbara Frankel
Barbara Frankel, 89, of West Bloomfield, Michigan, died on 19 December 2022. The Memorial Service was held at IRA KAUFMAN CHAPEL on Wednesday, 21 December 2022 at 3:00 PM . Rabbi Marla Hornsten and Cantor Neil Michaels officiated. Click  to watch a video of the recorded service.Barbara was born in Topeka, Kansas on October 27, 1933 to Helen and Laurence Gottman. She dedicated her life to the arts and philanthropy, including volunteering at the Jewish Home and Aging Services, sailing the Great Lakes, skiing, and supporting the Detroit Opera House and Detroit Symphony Orchestra. Barbara loved her many friends and relished her time in Gore Bay and Sarasota and seeing the world with her husband, Ron Michalak, and her children Mark (Nanci) and Laurie and her grandchildren, Zachary (Mallory), Eric, Leia, Nathan and Blake (Kelsey). Barbara is also survived by her sister Virginia (Charles) Slickis, and her former spouse Herman Frankel. She is predeceased by her sister Jacqueline Kaczmarek. Shiva will be held on Wednesday from 5:00-900 p.m. at Temple Israel, 5725 Walnut Lake Road, West Bloomfield, MI 48323.
