Joann Freeman Shwayder, 96, of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, died on 18 December 2022. The Funeral was held at IRA KAUFMAN CHAPEL on Thursday, 22 December 2022 at 12:00 PM . Rabbi Steven L. The family of Joann Freeman Shwayder will be gathering the evening of Thursday, December 22 at the residence of Tor Shwayder & Aimee Ergas, 28349 Harwich, Farmington Hills MI 48334 . The family invites friends to begin gathering at the home at 5:00 p.m. Religious Services will be conducted at 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening. A musical prodigy from age three, Freeman attended Central High School and the University of Michigan, earning degrees in chemistry from Vassar College and in music from the Juilliard Conservatory. She married Warren Shwayder in 1947, and they raised 4 sons while she continued her solo piano career. In 1969, Freeman founded the first chamber music series in Oakland County, the American Artists Series (AAS), which became the focus of her artistic career for 3 decades. She is lovingly remembered by her sons and daughters-in-law, Michael (Mary Beth), Mark (Susan), Tor (Aimee Ergas) and Walter (Kathe); by her grandchildren Mark (Aggie), Ariel (Nicole Klekowski), Todd (Jess), Kobey (Mindy Snitow), Maya (Nick Quaranto), Aviva, Arden, Elianna (Leeor Jaffe), and by 4 great-grandchildren and 2 step-great-grandchildren.
