Marie Flacks



Marie Flacks, 95, of Livonia, Michigan, died on 22 November 2022.

The Funeral was held at Graveside at Beth El Memorial Park, 28120 W 6 Mile Rd, Livonia MI 48152 on Friday, 25 November 2022 at 11:00 AM .

Rabbi Matthew Zerwekh officiated.

Marie Flacks was born December 20, 1926 in Westminster, London to Wolf and Ann Pela. She joined brother Dave and Sister Dora. Growing up in London during WW II, she lived through the Blitz and was part of the child relocation program when she was sent to Cambridge. In 1945 she married RCAF member Willie Weinberg and in 1946 gave birth to Larry. She moved to Hamilton Ontario and lived in Canada 1947-1951. Bonnie was born in Toronto. Shortly after Bonnie’s birth, Marie returned to London and lived there until 1957 when she married Harold (Jack) Flacks and moved to Detroit. Wendy was born in 1958. Marie worked in sales, mostly at Crowleys Livonia Mall store. After retirement she worked as a lunchroom “grandma” at Clarenceville Middle School. She was famous in the family for her brisket and roast potatoes, her love of poker, WWE wrestling and casinos - and her always open arms and kitchen to friends and family.

Marie is survived by her son, Larry Flacks (Christine), and her daughters Bonnie Weintrob (Thomas) and Wendy Preston. Her grandchildren Denise Solis (Felipe), Adam Weintrob (Jenna), Donna Schwandt (Christopher), Scott Weintrob (Stephanie,) Leah Lewis (Jacob), Katie Lidbury (Benjamin), Eric Weintrob and Julie Flacks; Great-grandchildren Phillip Solis, Elizabeth Solis, Emily Lewis, Robin Piercy, Jeffrey Lewis, Nicholas Schwandt, Dexter Schwandt, Brynn Weintrob, Sophia Weintrob, Robert and Richard Weintrob, Eleanor Lidbury and Baby Weintrob (due Feb ‘23). She is also survived by her nieces Gloria Birnbaum and Carol Pearl and nephew Dr. Richard Granstein . Her memory is also honored by Pat Preston, Peggy Flacks, Steven Phillips (Laura), Shannon Smith (Matthew), Desmond Phillips, Donovan Phillips, Meghan Smith and Molly Grace Smith.
