Marilyn Schechter, 84, of Louisville, Kentucky, died on 31 July 2022.

The Funeral was held at Graveside at Machpelah Cemetery, 21701 Woodward Ave, Ferndale MI 48220 on Friday, 05 August 2022 at 1:00 PM .

Rabbi Jennifer Lader officiated.

Marilyn Schechter, 84, died peacefully at home in Louisville, KY, on July 31, 2022. She was born on June 17, 1938, was raised in Detroit, MI, and graduated from the University of Michigan with her teaching degree.

She married David Schechter, started a family, and they moved to Louisville. Marilyn graduated with a Master’s in Education from Bellarmine University. As a teacher, she set a solid foundation for children to enjoy learning. She taught reading and writing to her kindergarten students at The Jewish Day School and King Elementary and set the groundwork for their formal educations.

Marilyn was a member of The Temple, NCJW Louisville Section, and B’nai Brith Women.

She was preceded in death by her husband, David, and her parents, Abe and Ruth Grodsky.

Marilyn is survived by her son, Ira, and his wife Stephanie and her other son Ronald and his wife Uta; plus, grandchildren, Arthur, Darian, Julian, and Aaron and his wife, Chelsea and their two children; and her brother Elliott Grodsky (Anita).

Visitation will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m., Wednesday, August 3, 2022, at Herman Meyer & Son, Inc., 1338 Ellison Ave, Louisville, KY. Funeral services and burial will be in Machpelah Cemetery, Ferndale, MI.
