Irene Wozniak

Irene Wozniak, 83, of Detroit, Michigan, passed away on January 31, 2022.

Internment will be in the Spring at Curran Cemetery, Curran Michigan, next to her son Tom.

Irene was the beloved wife of the late Raymond Charles Wozniak, Jr; cherished mother of Carol (Donald) Szczepanik, Katherine (Gene) Markowitz, and the late Thomas Wozniak; loving grandmother of Rachel Wozniak, Jason (Gabriella) Markowitz, Lexie Markowitz, and Brittany (Alexander) Dragan.

She was born on September 27, 1938 to Mary and John Kobielus in Detroit. Irene attended cosmetology school and was a beautician. In addition, she has delivered newspapers along the same paper route for nearly 50 years. Second only to family, she loved all animals, breeding and raising Cockerpoo puppies while the kids were growing up. In the calm serenity of the early mornings delivering, she enjoyed noting the local wildlife, even rescuing her last dog Freddy from there. Irene was an avid adventurer to local attractions and found time for longer travels. She aimed to ride along Hines Drive regularly, checking out the trees regardless of season and cherished having bonfires with Rachel in the driveway. Whether here in Michigan at Walled Lake with the family and sister Emily or in Florida visiting a new grandchild, she could be found taking in all the water had to offer. Boats were a staple to any water trip, especially when spending time up North with Tom at his cabin. Irene was a master reader, often finishing a book every other day. And with her off-center sense of humor is always remembered for clipping comics and wrapping gifts in them! A topnotch grandma, Irene was a tchotzchke collector which kept the grandkids entertained for hours as they poured over all the trinkets and treasures she would pick up.

It is suggested that those who wish to further honor the memory of Irene Wozniak may do so by making a contribution to:
