Robert was born in Detroit on May 27, 1921,graduated from Central High School, attended the University of Detroit, and served in the Army/Air Force as a flight instructor, a role he loved. He pursued a nearly 40 year career in the building business, building many single family homes in Dearborn, Livonia, Ypsilanti, and elsewhere in the Detroit area. He then began a second career in real estate and mortgage brokerage, working for Ralph Manuel, then John Adams Mortgage, retiring at age 93. He leaves behind many beloved colleagues and friends.

Robert was a long-time active member at Franklin Athletic Club, exercising regularly until age 98. He served on the Boards of Directors of the Builders Association of Michigan, andKingswood Hospital, and was a long-time member of the Aircraft Owners and Pilots Association. He was an accomplished pilot and continued flying for many years. His greatest passion was golf, which he played until the age of 95. He especially enjoyed 22 consecutive annual summer trips to play golf with his son Eric in Oregon.

Metro Detroit’s Jewish funeral homes have agreed that families should follow the directive of Centers for Disease Control and restrict the size of gatherings to no more than 10.

For now, in-person funeral attendance will be limited to only immediate family. Otherwise, funerals may be viewed live and recorded on chapel websites.

Together, we thank the community for understanding during this unusual and challenging time.
