Noreen Solomon



Noreen Solomon, 88, of Southfield, Michigan, died on 10 January 2020.

The Funeral was held at The Davidson/Hermelin Chapel at Clover Hill Park, 2425 14 Mile Rd, Birmingham MI 48009 on Monday, 13 January 2020 at 2:00 PM .

Rabbi Joseph Krakoff and Rabbi Michael Moskowitz and Cantor Penny Steyer officiated.

Family members include:
Beloved wife of the late Dr. Abraham Barnett Solomon; Cherished mother of Mindy Nathan, Carin Solomon-Kelly (Mark), Marshall Solomon and David Solomon; Grandmother "Neenie" to Jennifer Nathan Simoneaux (Robert), Jacob Nathan, Samantha Arin Rodd (Randy), Dylan Glickman, Scott Solomon and Joshua Solomon; Great grandmother of Bennett Abraham Simoneaux; Sister of Joan (Larry) Genender, the late Mervyn Ross (Myrna Ross), Also loved by Tom Nathan, Julie Solomon and her devoted caregiver Osah Boffah.

She was born in Barrie, Ontario and graduated from the University of Toronto. After studying for a year at the Institute of Child Study, and working at the Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Noreen moved to Detroit where she met the love of her life, Abraham Barnett Solomon, M.D. of blessed memory.

Noreen and Barney were married in 1956 and raised their family in Southfield, MI, where Noreen became very active in the community. She was a proud supporter of the Southfield Public Schools and was actively engaged in the PTA, school board and city elections. In addition, she was involved in Hadassah and Maimonides and forged deep friendships wherever she went. She was a fixture in Barney's Family Practice office; patients loved her and she loved them.

Noreen was the beloved mother of Mindy Nathan; Carin Kelly (Mark), Marshall and David; grandmother "Neenie" to: Jennifer Nathan Simoneaux (Robert), Jacob Nathan, Samantha Arin Rodd (Randy), Dylan Glickman, Scott Solomon and Joshua Solomon. Noreen was also blessed with a great grandson, Bennett Abraham Simoneaux. She was the sister of Joan (Larry) Genender, and Mervyn Ross, of blessed memory. Noreen was also loved by Tom Nathan, Julie Solomon and her devoted caregiver, Osah Boffah.

The family of Noreen Solomon will be gathering through the evening of Monday, January 13 at Temple Shir Shalom, 3999 Walnut Lake Road, West Bloomfield Mi 48323. The family will be gathering immediately following the interment through Monday evening, with a service being held at 7:00 p.m. Monday evening.
