FUNERAL DETAILS
Sophie Katz Mordis
Sophie Katz Mordis, 98, of Ann Arbor, Michigan, died on 08 August 2018. The Funeral was held at Beth Israel Congregation, 2000 Washtenaw Ave, Ann Arbor, MI 48104 on Friday, 10 August 2018 at 12:00 PM . Rabbi Nadav Caine and Rabbi Robert Dobrusin officiated. Interment at Arborcrest Memorial Park, 2521 Glazier Way, Ann Arbor MI 48105.
Family members include: Beloved wife of 59 years of the late Robert Mordis. Cherished mother of David (Judi) Mordis and Laura Mordis Jackson. Doting grandmother of Andrew Jackson and Nathaniel Jackson. Adored sister of the late Dorothy (the late Louis) Newman, and the late Sidney (the late Ann) Katz, and the late Martin (the late Sally) Katz. Sister-in-law of the late Alice (the late Irving) Rosenblatt and the late Eva Mordis. Devoted daughter of the late Jennie and the late Alex Katz. Also survived by many loving family and friends. Sophie was a 1937 graduate of Coloma (MI) High School, a 1941 graduate of Western State Teachers College (WMU) and earned her Masters Degree in Education from the University of Michigan. As a late elementary education teacher, she taught 41 years in Springport, Lansing, Ypsilanti and Port Huron. Family and friends will gather for shiva immediately following interment on Friday through the late afternoon at Beth Israel Congregation, 2000 Washtenaw Ave, Ann Arbor, MI 48104.
