Also survived by close family friends including Janet and Kamran Sheikh and Annie Chi.

Charlotte had a strong commitment to the community and civic engagement. She became aware of the vital need to expand emergency medical services throughout Oakland County. She served as the Consumer Information Chairwoman as a member of the Oakland County Emergency Medical Services Council. And in the early 1980’s, she was instrumental in helping bring advanced life support services and the 911 emergency telephone system to Oakland County.

She also had a love of learning and a strong intellectual curiosity about the history, religion, art and architecture of other cultures, and she avidly followed current events throughout her life.

She was a strong advocate for women’s rights and civil rights and LGBTQ equality. She brought that sensibility to bear as member of the Board for the Center for New Thinking (a study group led by Sherwin Wine) and as a board member of the West Bloomfield League of Women Voters.

Her appreciation for art and design led her to serve as one of the first docents at the Detroit Institute of Arts.
