Herbert KaufmanHerbert Kaufman, 94, of Southfield, Michigan, died on 11 April 2018. The Funeral was held at IRA KAUFMAN CHAPEL on Friday, 13 April 2018 at 1:30 PM . Rabbi Joseph Krakoff, Rabbi E. B. The family of Herbert Kaufman will be gathering through the evening of Sunday, April 15 at the residence, 29260 Franklin Rd. #520, Southfield Mi 48034. The family will receive friends and family at the Claymoor Apartments, 29260 Franklin Road, 48034, on Sunday, from 1:00 until 5:00 P.M., at Herb’s Apt. # 520, and 6:30-8:30 P.M. with religious services at 7:00 P.M., in the Community Room. Immediately following the burial at Clover Hill Park Cemetery, the family requests privacy on Shabbat, Friday evening and Saturday throughout the day and the evening. Family members include: Beloved husband of 64 years of the late Babs Kaufman. Cherished father of Dr. Joseph "Bud" (Judith) Kaufman, Ilene (David) Techner and the late Patricia Lynn Kaufman-Dube. Adoring grandfather of Josh Kaufman and Nicole Israel, Carly and Rob Vollero, Jenna Kaufman Behrer and Jason Behrer, Ari and Ashley Techner, Chad and Whitney Techner, Stephanie and Zachary Techner, Andrea Dube and the late Alicia Joy Techner. The proudest and greatest grandfather of Milo and Dahlia Techner, William, Louisa and Max Kaufman, Lila and Brady Vollero, Eli and Miriam Techner, Stella Joy Techner and the late Rose Bailey Techner. Devoted son of the late Ira Kaufman, the late Florence Kaufman and the late Rose Grace Kaufman. Loving son-in-law of the late Saul Kopman and the late Ann Kopman. Brother of the late Jean and the late Gerald Sucher, the late Charlotte and the late Nathan Feldman; Also survived by his dear friend and loving companion Carol Winkelman. In 1967, Herb and Babs Kaufman welcomed Kees Gorter, a Dutch exchange student into their lives. For 51 years Kees, his wife Monica, their three children and grandchildren have nourished and maintained a special bond with the entire Kaufman and Techner families. Herb Kaufman was born on April 11th, 1924, and died on his 94th birthday. Next week, Herb was to receive a rare honor, recognition for his 60 years of service to the funeral profession and the Owner of the Ira Kaufman Funeral Chapel. Herb served as a Past President of the Jewish Funeral Directors of America and is a Past President of Temple Beth El. He and Babs were honored by Israel Bonds. He was involved with the Quarter Century Club with his dear friend Jesse Kaufman Stern. He was a proud member of Congregation Shaarey Zedek, Temple Beth El and Temple Israel.
