FUNERAL DETAILS
Dr. Mark Andrew KamilDr. Mark Andrew Kamil, 60, of Commerce Twp, MI, died on 15 April 2017. The Funeral was held at IRA KAUFMAN CHAPEL on Wednesday, 19 April 2017 at 2:00 PM . The family of Dr. Mark Andrew Kamil will be gathering through the evening of Thursday, April 20 at the residence, 3171 Ridgemont, Commerce Twp MI 48382. Religious services Wednesday and Thursday evening at 7:00 p.m. He was born in Detroit, Michigan on April 22nd, 1956 to June and Dr. Richard Kamil. He graduated from Michigan State University in 1977 and Chicago Medical School in 1981, where he also earned a Masters of Bio-Chemistry. Dr. Kamil trained in Orthopaedic Surgery at Henry Ford Medical Center in Detroit and then served in private practice with his father for over 30 years. Mark’s infectious laugh filled the halls of Detroit Medical Center Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital in Commerce, Michigan, where he served as chair of the Operating Room and the Perioperative Unit. He received the Physician of the Year Award from Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital in 1997. He always went above and beyond to care for his patients and was an exceptionally dedicated physician and surgeon. He also served as the team doctor of the Novi Wildcats and Walled Lake Central Viking Football Team for many happy years. He is survived by his loving and devoted wife, Barbara June Kamil (nee Maitland), and six children, Joseph, Rita (Jason Nager), Frederick (Rebecca), Rebecca (Benjamin Friedman), Hannah, and Miriam, and his sisters Leslie, Lisa, and Florence. Dr. Kamil was a beloved husband, father, brother, son, surgeon, and friend, and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the June and Richard Kamil Fund at Temple Israel in West Bloomfield or to Friends of Magen David Adom.
