The daughter of Canadian born Henry Pineau and Mary Boudreau Pineau, Eileen was born in Royal Oak on May 9th 1939. She was the youngest sibling among 7 Pineau children. A graduate of Royal Oaks St. Marys High School, Eileen became engaged on her graduation day. Her and her husband, Ronald Smith, met on a blind date and were "fixed up" by mutual friends. They were married 60 years this November. She worked as a PBX operator for Formsprag at the time of her engagement. Ronald served aboard a submarine in the Navy prior to their marriage and worked at Western Electric in Detroit and later became a police officer in Royal Oak and retired as a lieutenant. Eileen Smith is survived by her loving husband Ronald Smith and adoring daughters, Kelly Opdyke, Wendy Dobalo, Linda Perry (George), Cathy Haithcoat (John), and Nanci Farber (David); Also many nieces and nephews and 15 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. She will forever be cherished and present in our memories and in our souls. She had an amazing wit and sense of humor. She made us laugh out loud and had deep Hazel Eyes that sparkled with love and light. Eileen and Ron Smith are dear friends and in-laws of the amazing Bill and Audrey Farber of West Bloomfield, Michigan. Ron and Eileen have a great love of our Jewish Community and have followed Bill and Audrey Farber's Philanthropic Path through their children, Nanci and David Farber.
