Family members include:
Beloved husband of 26 years of Ceci Stone and the late Tavy Stone. Cherished father of Meredith Stone (David) Masch and Julie Stone (Lauren Crane). Loving grandfather of Dr. Bill Masch. Also survived by Ceci's children and grandchildren, Dr. Julie Orman and Peter (Robin) Orman, and their children Amy Schaffer, Alexander "Sandy" Orman, Carly Orman, and Aiden Orman. William "Willie" Stone is the last of 9 children born to the late Ben and the late Anna Stone.

Growing up on Detroit's west side, William "Willie" Stone was always a good athlete who loved to participate in all kinds of sports. Born in 1924, Willie was one of nine children. At Central High School he ran cross country, track and played basketball. He continued those sports in college at Colorado State College until he joined the Army in 1942, when he added fast pitch softball to his sports resume. When he returned from the Army, he was an active bowler and past pitch softball pitcher, winning many trophies and team championships. Willie's athletic life changed in 1948 when he was introduced to the game of Squash and thus began a 50-year love affair with the sport that has brought him numerous recognition. In 2003, Willie was inducted into the Michigan Jewish Sports Hall of Fame. Willie enlisted in the Army after high school in 1942, a year after the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. He rose to the rank of captain in the 1253rd Combat Engineer Corps in 1945 and helped in the attempted rebuilding of the Ludendorff Bridge at Remagen, Germany. After the war, Willie was assistant commandant of a German prisoner-of-war camp in Brussels that held 6,000 captives. When Willie returned home in 1947, he was reintroduced to the Lions. He saw his second Lions game in 1948 and became a devoted season-ticket holder in 1949. In 1990, as the oldest living season-ticket holder, Willie earned special recognition for his 61 years of loyalty. He stuck with his Lions through good times and bad. Willie was so valued within the Lions organization that he was offered a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity in 2002; before Ford Field stadium was even completed, he was offered to choose any seats he wanted.
