She was preceded in death by her parents Phillip and Sarah Elkins, husband Theodore Bialock, her twin sister Doris Fishman (Sam), and her brother Harry Elkins (Irene). Her survivors include her children, Sasha of West Bloomfield, MI, Linda (Peter Kohn) of Keezletown, VA, David (Tomoko) of Los Angeles, three grandchildren, Sarah, Emily, Max, great-grandson, Oliver, and nieces, nephews, and many friends.

Sadie was born in Richmond, Michigan, and grew up in Mount Clemens. She graduated from the University of Michigan in 1944 and was briefly enrolled there in the Law School before discovering her true vocation in the education field. She then went on to complete an M.A. at Wayne State University specializing in speech and language therapy. After graduation, she worked for one year in Salt Lake City, UT, as a speech and language therapist, returning to Michigan where she met her future husband, Ted. After a period as stay-at-home mom until her children started school, Sadie returned to teaching and worked uninterruptedly for the next 37 years as an elementary school teacher in the Chippewa Valley and Mount Clemens school districts, retiring in 1988. During this period, she developed one of the first educational programs for the Physically and Otherwise Health Impaired (POHI) in the Detroit area. She stood in the picket lines in support of teacher unions and rights for all workers. She was a civil rights activist and charter member of the Northeast Interfaith Center for Justice. She served twelve years on the board of Saint Joseph’s Hospital Foundation. She was elected to six consecutive 2-year terms on the board of directors of Macomb Community College, serving four years as treasurer. Sadie remained active all through her long years of retirement, serving in numerous organizations, including MARSP, the NEA Teachers Union. She remained a master knitter, enjoyed games of Mahjongg, dinners and lunches with her friends the Red Hats, and continued to pursue her eclectic reading and many other interests, and above all was an amazing mom.
