The family of Carol Gordon DeVore will be gathering through the afternoon of Monday, July 08 at 3950 Pitt Rd., Waterford MI 48328. Family and friends will be gathering immediately following the interment service on Monday until 5:00 p.m. and on Tuesday from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. Carol Gordon DeVore, age 66, died on July 5, 2024. Born to the recently deceased Marilynn and Seymour ("Sease") Gordon, Carol went to Groves High School, Michigan State University, and the Medical College of Toledo. Carol's life was characterized by her creative spark and her love for family and friends. A physician in training, she left the medical profession to explore and grow her myriad other talents and interests. She started a business in healthcare advocacy; she cycled Make a Wish Foundation charity rides; she learned Mahjongg, canasta, knitting, and ceramics. Through all stages of her life, Carol was a devoted mother to her boys, steadfast daughter to her mother, a caring wife to her husband, Mark, and a friend and confidante to many. She always strove to be better; through her example, she encouraged people in her life to be better too. Living on Watkins Lake, in the beautiful house she designed, was a glorious way to appreciate the uniqueness of "a little slice of heaven." Carol's strength was never more manifest than in her final years. She beat breast cancer with grace. She died at age 66, after a year-long fight with acute lymphocytic leukemia. Throughout her treatments, she continued to prioritize the most important things in her life: time with her friends and family, especially her newly-born first granddaughter. She passed comfortably in her bed holding her husband's hand. She will be very much missed by all whom she touched, and has left them with memories and stories to keep them warm through tough times. She is survived by a remarkable family: her physician husband, Mark; her three grown sons and daughters-in-law, Zachary (Elliana), David (Grace), and Matthew. She will be an indelible part of the upbringing of her granddaughter, Talia Maryn, daughtef of Zachary and Elliana. She was a fabulous sibling to Nancy, Richard, and sister-in-law, Michelle. She loved her extended family of nieces, nephews, and the new generation of great-nieces and nephews: Adam and Abby Gordon (parents of Edward and Magnolia), and Rachel and Adam Orlansky (parents of Joseph). Her warmth and wit will be remembered by in-laws David and Christa DeVore (parents of John and Drew), Vicki, Jeff Rice, and Robert DeVore.
