Esther Sklar Mintz



Esther Sklar Mintz, 94, of Farmington Hills, Michigan, died on 13 February 2024.

The Funeral was held at Graveside at Beth El Memorial Park, 28120 W 6 Mile Rd, Livonia MI 48152 on Friday, 16 February 2024 at 11:00 AM .

Rabbi Megan Brudney officiated.

Family and friends will be gathering immediately after the interment for a luncheon at Temple Beth El, 7400 Telegraph Rd. in Bloomfield Hills. Religious services will follow at Temple Beth El at 2:00 p.m.

Family members include:
Beloved wife of 64 years of the late Marvin Mintz. Cherished mother of Steven Mintz, Charlotte “Cathy” Mintz, and Julie Mintz. Proud grandmother of Seth Mintz and Sean (Lisa) Mintz. Adoring “GG” of Caleb Mintz. Loyal sister of the late Melba (the late Sidney) Winer, the late Seena Sklar, and the late Gerald Sklar. Treasured sister-in-law of the late Beatrice (the late Shurly) Horwitz and the late Lucille (the late Milton) Sims. Dear daughter of the late Harry Sklar and the late Tillie Sklar. Much-loved daughter-in-law of the late Samuel Mintz and the late Charlotte Mintz. Esther is grateful for devoted helpers Karen Kopicko, Danita Johnson, Mildred Perkins, Betty White, and Laurie Hill. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and cherished friends.

After graduating from the University of Michigan, Esther taught for a short time in Detroit, then took time off to raise her children before returning to teaching. She received a Master’s degree in Reading from Oakland University, and served as a reading consultant for West Bloomfield Schools for 28 years.
