Flora WintonFlora Winton, 106, of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, died on 28 May 2023. The Funeral was held at IRA KAUFMAN CHAPEL on Wednesday, 31 May 2023 at 11:00 AM . Rabbi Norman Roman officiated. Family and friends will gather at the residence, 1520 Charrington Rd, Bloomfield Hills MI 48301 following the service on Wednesday from 1:30-4:30 p.m. and again from 7:00-9:00 p.m. Family members include: Beloved wife of the late Frank Winton. Cherished mother of Susan Winton-Feinberg. Adored daughter of the late Peter Miller and the late Rosa Miller. Also survived by her caregivers Dejela, Violet, Bruna, Monda, Ilida, and Alda and many loving friends. Flora Jane Miller Winton Born in 1917 in Ann Arbor, Michigan. Flora’s education included: Miss Newman School for Girls, grade 1-7, Detroit. Mt. Vernon, New York, grade 8. Miss Newman School for Girls, grade 9-11. Starrett School for Girls, grade 12, Chicago. Northwestern University, B.S. Speech, 1939. Major in Theatre Production. Minor in Education Psychology. Wayne State University Graduate School. Major in Instructional Technology. Non-Credit Courses in Adult Education: Parliamentary Procedure, Transactional Analysis, Time Management, Library Science, Spanish, Jewish Responses, Volunteer Management and Leadership Training, Art History, World’s Great Religions, Music Appreciation, History of American Literature, Urban Sociology. 1930-1939 Children’s Hospital of Michigan volunteer in Surgical and Medical Clinics. College Women’s Volunteer Services; worked in office. Hull House, Chicago, volunteer while at university. 1940-1949 Franklin Settlement, Detroit. Taught Speech and Theatre Arts. United Foundation of Metropolitan Detroit; volunteer on First Annual Torch Drive. Married Lt. Frank J. Winton in 1942; traveled with him to many Air Force bases; volunteer work.
