Janet Kover![]() Janet Kover, 103, of West Bloomfield, Michigan, died on 23 April 2023. The Funeral was held at GRAVESIDE on Wednesday, 26 April 2023 at 1:00 PM . Rabbi Jennifer Kaluzny officiated. Click ![]() Interment at Beth El Memorial Park, 28120 6 Mile Road, Livonia MI 48152.
The family of Janet Kover will be gathering through the evening of Thursday, April 27 at the residence of Joan and Milt Levine, 32350 Briarcrest Court, Farmington Hills MI 48334. Family and friends will be gathering on Wednesday and Thursday from 6:00 p.m until 8:30 p.m. Religious services will be held at 7:00 p.m. on both days. Guests are required to wear masks at Shiva. Janet Simon Kover died peacefully on April 23, 2023. Janet is survived by her children Mark (Karen), Kathy Leeman (Tim Turnock), Joan (Milton) Levine and four grandchildren. Her beloved husband David died in 2000. Janet was born in Willoughby, Ohio and was preceded in death by parents Mary and Harry Simon, sisters Frances Goldberg, Sylvia Wachtel and Raenette Simon, brother Howard Simon. She completed her undergraduate degree at The Ohio State University and was certified in social work at Case Western University. She served with the American Red Cross (Group Socialworker) during World War II with the rank of Lieutenant at a Cleveland, Ohio hospital, where she met her future husband, Master Sergeant David Kovarsky. Following WWII, she received her teaching degree from Wayne State University and was a former kindergarten and first grade teacher of Livonia and Southfield schools. Her Master's degree was received from University of Michigan and her Specialist Post degree was completed at Oakland University. Janet was a lifelong member of Temple Israel, Temple Israel Treasurers, Council of Jewish Women, Women's International and others. She was an avid learner and reader throughout her life and enjoyed volunteering.
