She leaves behind many loving nieces and nephews.

Helen was born in Detroit on August 16, 1927 and graduated from Central High School. She will be remembered for her warmth, kindness, sensitivity, generosity, and her incredible creative endeavors. She was an accomplished professional dancer in her early years, then raised her three children, most of those years as a young widow, never once complaining of the hardships she faced. She taught her children to embrace their creative spirits and urged them to find their own way. Never one to sit around, she discovered gourmet cooking, having studied briefly at the Cordon Bleu, then spending years fine-tuning her craft, and finally teaching gourmet cooking classes in her home kitchen and at local events, including one stint alongside Julia Child. Her children were grateful (and lucky) to be her food testers. She then turned to her love of jewelry and taught herself to make unique costume necklaces and could be found in her home studio, working many hours, often late into the night. You couldn’t leave her house without the demand: "pick out three necklaces!” She also spent many years volunteering for the Juvenile Diabetes Assoc.

Her family thanks Carolyn Anderson and her wonderful caregivers at Thrive Assisted Living in Bloomfield Hills.
