Dr. Freddie Averbuch



Dr. Freddie Averbuch, 84, of Naples, Florida, died on 22 March 2023.

The Funeral was held at The Davidson/Hermelin Chapel at Clover Hill Park, 2425 14 Mile Rd, Birmingham MI 48009 on Sunday, 26 March 2023 at 3:00 PM .

Rabbi Joseph Krakoff officiated.

Dr. Freddie Averbuch is survived by his beloved and devoted wife, Lenore; his children, Michele (Ahron) Zygman, Amy Dunn, and Jeffrey (Connie) Averbuch; grandchildren, Benjamin and Gabby Zygman, and Joshua and Matthew Averbuch; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Sol (Bobbi) Dunn, and Irving (Dorothy) Dunn; stepchildren, Cheryl Katz Briggins, Debra Hemenway, and Julie Adelson; step-grandchildren, Austin and Alexia Hemenway, and Shae, Tori, and Savannah Adelson; sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Marilyn (Harvey) Saperstein; sister and brother-in-law, Sharlene (Dr. Sidney) Beck. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews. Freddie was the beloved husband of the late Deanna Averbuch, and the dear brother-in-law of the late Carol Sohigian. He will be greatly missed by all his family and friends and he will never be forgotten.

Dr. Averbuch was born and schooled in Detroit, Michigan. He graduated from Mumford High School (1956), Wayne State University (1959), with a Medical degree from Wayne State University College of Medicine (1963). Freddie completed an internship at Sinai Hospital in Detroit (1964) and a four-year residency at Henry Ford Hospital, specializing in Ear, Nose, and Throat.

Freddie was a member of Congregation Shaarey Zedek for over 40 years and served on the Board of Directors for three years.

He served in the United States Air Force based in Tachikawa, Japan as a practicing physical from 1968-1970. Upon his discharge, he continued his practice in suburban Detroit.

Freddie was the beloved son of the late Gilbert and the late Sophie Averbuch, and the dear son-in-law of the late Jack and the late Chana Dunn, and the late Paul and the late Shirley Frank.

Lenore and her family will be gathering immediately following the interment until 6:00 p.m. at the Shiva Center at Clover Hill Park Cemetery.

Michele and Amy and their families will be gathering through Monday evening at 20724 E. Kennoway Circle, Beverly Hills, MI 48025. Religious services will be held on Monday at 5:00 p.m.
