Ruth Nemon Grey



Ruth Nemon Grey, 74, of Farmington Hills, Michigan, died on 23 August 2021.

The Funeral was held at Graveside at Machpelah Cemetery, 21701 Woodward Ave, Ferndale MI 48220 on Tuesday, 24 August 2021 at 1:30 PM .

Rabbi Harold Loss officiated.

Anyone who would like to join the family at the graveside is welcome to do so. Masks are required if attending the funeral service in person. The funeral will be livestreamed for those that would be more comfortable watching remotely.

The family welcomes friends on Tuesday and Wednesday from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at Temple Israel with Religious services conducted at 6:30 p.m. Temple Israel is located at 5725 Walnut Lake Road, West Bloomfield, MI 48323. Please note that no food will be served and masks are required at shiva.

Family members include:
Beloved wife of 53 years of James Grey. Cherished mother of Rachel Grey Ellis, Emily (Jordan) Berman, and the late Jeffrey Grey. Proud grandmother of Shira, Ari, and Noam Ellis, and Jonah, Livie, and Daisy Berman. Loving sister of Dr. Barry (Barbara Stark-Nemon) Nemon, Dr. Howard (Pamela) Nemon, and Marsha Nemon. Dear sister-in-law of the late Ellen Cole. Devoted daughter of the late John and the late Sarah Nemon. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends.

Ruth was a pillar in the Detroit Jewish community as a professional and volunteer. She gave her time and devotion to an abundance of Jewish organizations, including B’nai B’rith Couplets, B’nai B’nai B’rith Youth Organization, B’nai B’rith Women, Hadassah, JCRC, Jewish War Veterans Auxiliary, Tamarack Camps, and Temple Israel Sisterhood, among many more.

Ruth was the assistant director at Camp Tamarack for over a decade, and was beloved by the camp community. She also worked as a high school math teacher at Ferndale High and Clawson High schools. She will be sorely missed by many.
