Family members include:
Beloved wife of the late Willard G. Baker. Cherished mother of Esther Salamon (David Stephenson). Lovingly remembered by many friends.

Ella was a very keen gardener for most of her life and particularly loved flowers (never fake, always real and seasonal). She was instrumental in the garden at Hechtman which she created when she lived there. Ella had a very inquisitive mind and was well-informed as to what was happening in the world. She never shied away from expressing with conviction her points of view. Ella was always thinking of ways to improve the lives of those she knew. She made a positive impact on everyone she met and will be dearly missed.

Metro Detroit’s Jewish funeral homes have agreed that families should follow the directive of Centers for Disease Control and restrict the size of gatherings to no more than 36.

For now, in-person funeral attendance will be limited to only immediate family. Otherwise, funerals may be viewed live and recorded on chapel websites.

Together, we thank the community for understanding during this unusual and challenging time.

It is suggested that those who wish to further honor the memory of Ella Baker may do so by making a contribution to:
