Morris "Morry" SilvermanMorris "Morry" Silverman, 86, of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, died on 17 May 2020. The Funeral was A PRIVATE FAMILY GRAVESIDE SERVICE on Tuesday, 19 May 2020 at 11:00 AM . Rabbi Joseph Krakoff officiated. Click to watch a video of the recorded service. Family members include: Beloved husband of 63 years of Shayna Silverman. Cherished father of Jeffrey Silverman, Eric Silverman, and the late Julie Sachse. Dear father-in-law of Edmund Sachse; and father-in-law of former wife of Jeffrey Silverman, Tiffany Meller. Adoring Papa of Jake Sachse and Mikel Anne Silverman, and Maisch of Erin Sachse and Max Dowaliby. Devoted son of the late Julius and the late Anne Silverman. Loving brother of Bernice (the late Daniel) Pinsky, Gordon (Gloria) Silverman, the late Henrietta (the late Willie) Bitterman, the late Harvey (the late Diane) Silverman, the late Lorraine Soverinsky, and the late Paul Silverman. Brother-in-law of Seymour Soverinsky. Also survived by many loving nieces and nephews, and loving caregiver Kim Ruffin. A lifelong Detroiter, Morry was born in Detroit in 1933, grew up on Collingwood Street. He attended both Durfee Jr. High and Central High School. Morry then attended Wayne State University. He met Shayna on May 18, 1956 and they married one year later on June 9, 1957. Morry was a modest man who always prioritized doing the right thing and placed honesty above all – these principles guided him in life and business. Since the day that he started his insurance company in 1958, Morry took care of his clients like family, he made their lives his priority and deeply cherished their relationships. Morry understood the importance his community and of giving back. He selflessly gave his time to those in need, serving in the US Army (56-57), and later acting as a long-time board member of the Jewish Vocational Services, as well as the Jewish Community Center. Morry’s mission in life was to make everyone laugh and smile. Morry is survived by his wife of 63 years, Shayna Silverman, his two children Jeffery and Eric Silverman, son-in-law Ed Sachse and three grandchildren Jacob Sachse, Erin Sachse and Mikel Silverman, his sister Bernice Tinsky, brother Gordon Silverman and his wife Gloria. Also survived by many loving nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Morry was the beloved and doting father of the late Julie Silverman Sachse, loving and devoted son of the late Anne and Julius Silverman, beloved brother of the late Harvey Silverman, Henrietta Bitterman, Lorraine Soverinsky and Paul Silverman. The Silverman family thanks caregiver Kim Ruffin for her compassion and love. For those of you who are in the Detroit area on Tuesday and wish to pay their respects to Shayna and the Silverman family after the funeral, there will be a ‘drive up’ greeting in front of Shayna’s home. • 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM Tuesday, May 19th. Metro Detroit’s Jewish funeral homes have agreed that families should follow the directive of Centers for Disease Control and restrict the size of gatherings to no more than 10.
