Anita Barbara Sosin (nee Moerschell) passed away on April 7, 2020 after a years-long struggle with a debilitating neurological disease. Anita was a fount of energy, strength and compassion, with an overflowing personality, a splash of fearlessness and audacity, and an engaging smile. Everything she undertook in life was with gusto and expertise – gardening (she was a Master Gardener), golf (she was a superb golfer and athlete), cooking and baking (the finest pies in the world), antique-clock collecting, fishing, needlepointing and so many other pursuits.

Anita was the best friend, partner and world-traveling companion of her devoted husband Ralph, tireless and loving mother to children Robert (Cecilia), David (Lisa) and Nancy (CJ), and adoring, attentive grandmother to Nathan (Susanne), Julia (Ben), Timothy (Hannah), Jeffrey (fiancée Sydnee), Jacob and Joshua, and brand-new great grandmother to grandson Bert born less than two weeks before her passing. She will be deeply missed, but her memory lives on in the many wonderful people whom she touched and who loved her. A Celebration of Anita’s robust life will take place when it is safe and appropriate to do so.

Metro Detroit’s Jewish funeral homes have agreed that families should follow the directive of Centers for Disease Control and restrict the size of gatherings to no more than 10, for at least the month of April.

For now, in-person funeral attendance will be limited to only immediate family. Otherwise, funerals may be viewed live and recorded on chapel websites.

Together, we thank the community for understanding during this unusual and challenging time.
