Family members include:
Beloved wife of the late Robert "Bob" Rollins; cherished mother of Suzie (Steve) Mitchell and Jay Rollins; loving grandmother of Justin (Elyse) Singer and Alex Rollins. Great-grandmother of Calvin Singer.

Elyce Simon Rollins, 87 of Farmington Hills, died …… after a courageous seven-year battle with cancer. She was the wife of the late Robert (Bob) Rollins, mother of Suzie (Steve) Mitchell, and Jay Rollins. Grandmother of Justin (Elyse) Singer and Alex Rollins, and great-grandmother of Calvin Singer. Elyce was born and raised in Chicago, IL and moved to Detroit as 19-year-old bride. She and Bob raised their children in Huntington Woods and then moved to Springfield, VA in the mid-70s where she lived for more than 30 years. Elyce began working as a typist for Fairfax County government in the late 70s and was continually promoted, earning numerous awards for her work as “chief expediter” of food service. She retired at age 80 as a Contract Manager for Fairfax County overseeing all of the food and beverage contracts for the county buildings. She loved her work and made hundreds of friends over the years. Following retirement she returned to Farmington Hills to be near her daughter, where she also was reunited with many old friends. Elyce had a larger than life personality, and made an impression on everyone she met. She was a lover of jazz, happy hours with co-workers, playing Canasta, shopping for bargains, and costume jewelry.

Due to COVID-19 no funeral will be held. Interment will be in Arlington National Cemetery.

At Elyce’s request, a celebration of her life, complete with jazz, cocktails and hors d’oeuvres will be held at a later date when it is safe to congregate again.

Metro Detroit’s Jewish funeral homes have agreed that families should follow the directive of Centers for Disease Control and restrict the size of gatherings to no more than 10, for at least the month of March.

For now, in-person funeral attendance will be limited to only immediate family. Otherwise, funerals may be viewed live and recorded on chapel websites.

Together, we thank the community for understanding during this unusual and challenging time.
