Eugene "Yosl" Broder, 76, of Tamarac, Florida, died on 30 October 2017.

The Funeral was held at IRA KAUFMAN CHAPEL on Sunday, 05 November 2017 at 11:00 AM .

Rabbi James Egolf officiated.

Eugene “Yosl” Broder, 76, passed away October 30 from complications of lymphoma. A native of Brooklyn, NY and longtime resident of Detroit and Huntington Woods, Michigan, Yosl was a graduate of Cass Technical High School and held a Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering from Wayne State University. He worked for many years as an executive in the automotive fasteners industry in Detroit and aircraft tools industry in Ft. Lauderdale. He was a great lover of classical music and an accomplished gardener. Yosl was a native Yiddish speaker and supporter of Yiddish culture, including the Workmen’s Circle and Yiddish Book Center.

In retirement, Yosl travelled all over the world with his wife Doreen and was an active volunteer in his new community of Tamarac FL, including Tomorrow’s Rainbow (a program for grieving children), the Bromeliad Society of Broward County, Temple Kol Ami Emanu-El of Plantation, FL, and Habitat for Humanity.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 55 years, Doreen (Reifler) Broder. He was the proud father of Gail Broder; Phil Broder (Carly Hitzfeld Broder); Rebecca Egolf (Rabbi James Egolf), and devoted grandfather of Jeremiah and Joshua Egolf. He is also survived by his brother, Dr. Martin Broder (Marian), as well as many family members and friends. He was also preceded in death by his parents, Bernard and Reva (Weisman) Broder.

The family will gather from 3:00-6:00 p.m. for shiva at 6750 E. Nashway Drive in West Bloomfield, MI.

A memorial service will be scheduled at a future date at Temple Kol Ami Emanu-El in Plantation, FL.
