Doreen Alice Broder



Doreen Alice Broder, 75, of Tamarac, Florida, died on 30 July 2017.

The Memorial Service was held at IRA KAUFMAN CHAPEL on Friday, 11 August 2017 at 11:00 AM .

Rabbi James Egolf officiated. The family of Doreen Alice Broder will be gathering through the evening of Friday, August 11 at 6750 E. Nashway Drive, West Bloomfield MI 48322. The family will gather for shiva immediately following the Memorial Service.

On Friday the family will gather from 12:00-4:00 P.M.

Doreen Alice (Reifler) Broder, 75, passed away July 30 after a brief illness. A native of Detroit and longtime resident of Huntington Woods, Michigan, Doreen was a graduate of Cass Technical High School and held a Bachelor’s Degree in Library Science from Wayne State University. She worked for many years as an editor and proofreader, including a range of freelance work and many years at Wayne State University Press.

In retirement, Doreen travelled all over the world with her husband and was an active volunteer in her new community of Tamarac FL, including the Broward Center for the Performing Arts, Challenger and Walker Elementary School libraries, Temple Kol Ami Emanuel of Plantation, FL, and Reading for the Blind.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 55 years, Eugene “Yosl” Broder. She was the proud mother of Gail Broder; Phil Broder and his fiancé Carly Hitzfeld; Rebecca Egolf and Rabbi James Egolf, and devoted grandmother of Jeremiah and Joshua Egolf. She is also survived by her siblings Barry Reifler (Judy), Linda Reifler Alessi (Warren), and Karen Richardson (Ike), as well as many family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pearl and Benjamin Reifler, and her brother Frederick.
