Dennis Robert Israel



Dennis Robert Israel, 74, of Villa Hills, Kentucky , died on 20 June 2017.

The Funeral was held at Graveside at Nusach Harie Cemetery, 21925 Woodward Avenue, Ferndale MI 48220 on Thursday, 22 June 2017 at 11:00 AM .

Rabbi Marla Hornsten officiated. Interment at Nusach Harie Cemetery.

The family of Dennis Robert Israel will be gathering through the afternoon of Friday, June 23 at the residence of Larry and Leda Israel, 31798 Bristol, Farmington Hills MI 48334. The phone number is 248-489-9323.

The family will be gathering following interment Thursday and on Friday through 3:00 p.m.

Religious services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Thursday evening.

Family members include:
Beloved husband of Marilyn Israel. Cherished father of Dawn Israel, the late Marcus L. Israel, and stepfather of Lisa Wagner, Gary Mayes, and Vasilios Mayes. Loving grandfather of Sage Lindsay Castle, Sam Logan Castle, Alex Wagner, Abby Wagner, Samantha Wagner, Tyler Wagner and Zara Mayes. Dear great-grandfather of Louis Joseph “LT” Wagner. Proud brother of Larry (Leda) Israel, Cary (Trudy) Israel, and Randy (Carla) Israel.

Dennis R. Israel started in the radio broadcasting business at the young age of 15 at WEXL/WOMC in Detroit area under the name of Dennis Darnell. Later he was known at other radio stations in Flint and other major cities as Dennis Clarke and Larry Dennis. He had an extensive international communications background with assignments in Europe, the Caribbean, Middle East, Africa, Asia and Latin America. He lived in Europe and traveled worldwide regularly to consult/advise government and private sector clients. He managed or owned major TV-Radio stations in New York, Chicago, Miami and Washington D.C. Dennis was the youngest Vice-President in the history of NBC.

He was a former advisor to the Voice of America, United Stated Information Agency and taught as an adjunct associate professor of communications at New York University, Barry University in Miami Shores, City College in Ft. Lauderdale and in the Graduate School of Journalism and Communications of Addis Ababa University in Ethiopia. He recently continued teaching at the Ohio Center for Broadcasting and communications at Northern Kentucky University.
