Murray Henri Miller, 89, of Ann Arbor, Michigan, died on 28 April 2017.

The Funeral was held at GRAVESIDE on Monday, 01 May 2017 at 11:00 AM .

Rabbi Robert Dobrusin officiated. Interment at Beth Israel Memorial Garden in Arborcrest Cemetery, 2521 Glazier Way, Ann Arbor MI 48105.

Murray H. Miller passed away peacefully Friday morning, April 28, 2017 at the age of 89. Murray was born in October 1928 in Brooklyn, NY to Max Miller and Ann Marculessen. He attended Stuyvesant High School, graduating at 16, and was then drafted and discharged, reenlisted and finally ended his career with the US Army in 1948. Courtesy of the GI Bill, Murray then started undergraduate studies at the University of Michigan Ann Arbor.

Professor Miller earned his B.S. degree in 1950, his M.S. degree in 1951, and his Ph.D. degree in 1959, all in electrical engineering and all from the University of Michigan. He was a faculty member on the Ann Arbor campus from 1959-69 and joined the electrical and computer engineering department at UM-Dearborn as an associate professor in 1971. He was promoted to professor in 1977. During his tenure he served as acting chair of the department of Electrical and Computer Engineering in 1976-77, chair from 1977-84, and three terms as a member of the college’s executive committee. Murray also served as the faculty adviser for multiple organizations and was one of the founders of Conductron Corp., KMS Industries, and Vicom Inc. He because a Professor Emeritus in 1988.

Professor Miller was a member of IEEE, the American Society of Engineering Education, Sigma Xi, Eta Kappa Nu, and Tau Beta Pi. He was a recipient of multiple awards including the Tau Beta Pi Eminent Engineer Award, had over thirty publications, classified reports and presentations to his credit, and was awarded seven U.S. patents. A talented artist and aquarist, he also won several awards for growing roses and was one of the original families of Beth Israel Synagogue in Ann Arbor where the family donated the Marculeson Torah.

He met his wife in Ann Arbor, MI and was married in December 1958. They were inseparable until her death in 2014.

Murray is survived by his oldest daughter Lisa Weiskopf and her husband Michael, his youngest daughter Michelle, his grandchildren Jacob, Rebekah, and Aaron as well as several additional relatives.
