Raised in New York, Steve moved to Ann Arbor in early 1970s to pursue a degree in psycholinguistics at the University of Michigan. While his professional interests would eventually lead him to the practice of law, those of us who knew and loved him also understood the nature of his wide-ranging interests and how these, and other competencies outside of his legal practice, more fully defined him. An early adopter of desktop-based informatics, he truly understood this evolving technology, understood what was really inside the box and was often the only one able to rescue us when our PCs crashed. An avid and eclectic reader, his tastes varied widely from hard-core science-fiction to major nonfiction, social science, and historical tomes. Rounding out Steve's life was his passion for travel, particularly his beloved Hawaii. He marched to his own drummer and, like many of us, had his struggles. He was loved by his family and in particular his life partner Sally Fink. Sally aided immeasurably to the love, joy and companionship he felt in his final months and days. He will be missed.
