David Lebenbom



David Lebenbom, 89, of Bloomfield Hills, Michigan, died on 05 January 2015.

The Funeral was A PRIVATE FAMILY SERVICE on Wednesday, 07 January 2015 at 2:30 PM .

Rabbi David Nelson officiated.

Family members include:
Beloved husband of the late Elaine Lebenbom. Cherished father of Sally (Don) Keaton, Matthew (Andrea) Lebenbom, Michael Lebenbom and the late Miriam Lebenbom Mansour. Loving Grandfather of Joshua and Moriah Mansour, Benjamin and Shayna Keaton, and Steven, Daniel and Sonya Lebenbom. Loving brother of Milton (Marjorie) Lebenbom and Pearl Bellom. Also survived by longtime companion Cecelia Benner and many loving relatives and friends.

David Lebenbom was born in the Bronx, NYC in 1925. The oldest of four children of a poor family he graduated from Central High School, served in the US Army Signal Corp during WWII, graduated from Wayne State University and Columbia Law School. David was a distinguished member of the Michigan bar for over sixty years. During his career was a pioneer in the law governing the care and treatment of the elderly in Michigan. During his long career David served on the Law Revision Commission, co-authored the Michigan Public Health Code and represented the Health Care Association of Michigan. In addition to practicing law, David served as Wayne County Democratic Party Chairman during John F. Kennedy's successful presidential run in 1960 and served as Robert Kennedy's Campaign Chairman in Michigan in 1968. David also served was a past president of the Jewish Community Council and served on the Board of the Jewish Federation of Metropolitan Detroit. There will be a public memorial service and unveiling in July.
