Kathleen "Kay" Ruby
Kathleen "Kay" Ruby, 93, of Oak Park, Michigan, died on 11 August 2014. The Memorial Service was held at Graveside on Thursday, 14 August 2014 at 11:00 AM . Rabbi Daniel Syme officiated. Interment at Oakview Cemetery, 1032 N Main St, Royal Oak, MI 48067.
Born in Glasgow, Scotland on March 5, 1921, and raised in Windsor, Ontario, she was the cherished daughter of Maxwell & Nellie Chaplin. A resident of Oak Park since 1955, “Kay” retired in 1984 as a Vice President and bank manager with 33 years of service at American Savings & Loan. In later years she happily volunteered her time and smile greeting patients and families at Beaumont Hospital. The adored wife, best friend, and traveling companion of 62 years to her beloved husband, the late Steven Ruby; she is also survived by her loving nephews Arnold M. Rubenstein of Beverly Hills, CA, Alvin S. Rubenstein of Hiawassee, GA, niece Rosalind Levin of Lincolnwood, IL and their families. As well as her sweet cousins in Scotland. She was the dear “Aunt Kathy” to Godson David Lewis of Chicago, Cheri Alexander & Dr. Richard Redding of Ann Arbor, Robyn & Kurt Golarz of Oak Park, Donna and Bill Oram of West Bloomfield, Marcy Caplan of Southfield, Dana and Ruby Littlefield of Chicago, Alexis Redding of Boston, Roland Lewis of Rancho Mirage, CA... and all the rest of her loving adopted “family”. Very special friend of Jackie Wilcox of Detroit, Oak Park neighbors Mr. & Mrs. Rick Brown, Joan Goldman of Southfield, Dr. & Mrs. Dan Lazar, and dozens of others of you who happily know who they are. Oh, and very BEST friend, her sweet pup Rudy Ruby Lazar.
