Jane GordonJane Gordon, 78, of Atlanta, Georgia, formerly of West Bloomfield, died on 04 February 2012. The Funeral was held at The Davidson/Hermelin Chapel at Clover Hill Park, 2425 14 Mile Rd, Birmingham MI 48009 on Thursday, 09 February 2012 at 2:00 PM . Rabbi Joseph Krakoff officiated. Interment at Clover Hill Park Cemetery.
Family members include: Beloved Wife of the late David F. Gordon; Cherished Mother of Barbara (Philip) Beaudette of Atlanta, Ga. and Harry Gordon of Lakeland, Fl.; Loving Grandmother of Kristen Gordon and Erik Gordon of Lakeland, Fl.; Devoted Daughter of the late Samuel and the late Anne Bernstein; Sister of Joel (Vera) Bernstein of Irvington, N.Y. and Herbert Bernstein of Long Island, N.Y.; Aunt of Linda (Daniel) Brocket and her 3 children. Jane Gordon was one of three children and the only daughter of Samuel L. and Anne Bernstein. She grew up in the Fort Washington Heights area of Manhattan. Jane moved to attend college and graduated from Michigan State in 1954. It was at college that she met her husband David, and they were married in 1954. They settled in the Detroit area where Jane began a 40 year teaching career with the Ferndale Public School System. Her devotion to education and young people won her the accolades of colleagues and administrators alike, and a loyal following of students and families. Retiring in 1994, Jane continued to pursue her passion in reading where she was always willing to pass along a tip for a good book to read or to lend one from her overflowing collection. A terrific conversationalist, she was a warm and receiving person who mixed well in any setting and enjoyed many friendships. Following interment at Clover Hill Park Cemetery, the family will be gathering through Thursday evening at The Somerset Inn, 2nd Floor, Suite "C" (South side of Big Beaver, East of Coolidge).
